What cookies are and how we use them
Walking Pad Central (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on walkingpadcentral.com to keep the site working, understand how readers use our reviews and track affiliate referrals.
This policy explains what those cookies are and how you can control them.
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser.
Similar technologies include pixels, tags and local storage, which work in much the same way.
We call them all “cookies” in this policy.
This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.
Types of cookies we use
We use four categories of cookies.
Only strictly necessary cookies are set without your consent; the others load only if you accept them in our cookie banner (where the law requires consent).
| Category | What it does | Example | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps the site secure and working and remembers your cookie choices | Cookie-consent record, security and spam-protection cookies, load balancing | No |
| Preferences | Remembers settings such as comment name and email so you don’t retype them | WordPress comment cookies | Yes |
| Analytics | Measures visits, popular pages and time on site so we can improve our reviews | Google Analytics | Yes |
| Affiliate and advertising | Records that you clicked through to a retailer and may show ads based on your interests | Amazon Associates, other retailer affiliate programs, Google ads | Yes |
Session vs. persistent cookies: Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies stay for a set period, typically from a few days up to 2 years, unless you delete them first.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by other companies whose services we use.
We don’t control these cookies, so please check each provider’s policy.
Google Analytics: Helps us see how visitors find and use the site.
Google may process this data on its own servers.
You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Amazon and other affiliate programs. Many of our reviews link to retailers.
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer sets a cookie that tells them you came from Walking Pad Central, so we can earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Read more about it in our Affiliate Disclosure.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. See Amazon’s cookie notice.
Advertising partners. If we show ads, our partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info or, in the EU and UK, youronlinechoices.eu.
Embedded content. Reviews may include embedded videos (for example from YouTube).
These providers may set their own cookies when you play the video.
Managing your cookie choices
You can change your mind at any time.
- Our cookie banner: Accept or reject non-essential cookies when you first visit.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. See the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
- Opt-out tools. Use the analytics and advertising opt-out links listed above.
- Global Privacy Control. Where required by law, we treat a GPC browser signal as a request to opt out of advertising cookies.
Blocking cookies won’t stop you reading our reviews.
Some features, like remembered comment details, may stop working and we may not be credited for purchases made through our links.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add or remove tools or when the law changes. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and ask for your consent again if the changes require it.
